As mentioned in the course series introduction, the criteria for good writing are correctness, clarity, conciseness, convincingness, and emphasis. The initial course, Writing Correctly, addressed the first criterion, correctness. This second course, Writing Effectively, addresses the other four criteria (clarity, conciseness, convincingness, emphasis).
While Course 1 covered rule-based writing, this course will cover choices in writing—matters of style and structure. Specifically, the course will cover deductive structure, paragraphing, and sentence construction.
